If you live in an apartment in Glen Allen, VA and are looking for a few things to do this weekend, look no further. Here are a few fun things happening around Richmond.
Friday, August 1 & Saturday August 2
Enjoy seven different rodeo events including bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, tie down roping and more. Live music before and after the rodeo each night with Runaway Rodeo on Friday and Jackson Ward on Saturday. Gates open at 6 p.m.; rodeo starts at 7:30 p.m.
Dragon Boat Festival
Saturday, August 2
Come see the brightly decorated dragon boats racing down the James River. Expect to see 20 to 25 teams racing down the James in 40-foot canoes decked out with decorative Chinese dragon heads and tails. Teams are made up of local businesses as well as out-of-town professionals. This is a very fun spectator sport. There will be food and beer vendors on site, plus cultural performances, music and dance. The first race will start at 9 a.m. and races will continue until 3 p.m. Rocketts Landing.
Redskins Fan Appreciation Day
Saturday August 2
It’s Fan Appreciation Day! Be there to watch the practice followed by (most probably) a performance from the Redskins cheerleaders, the band, and hopefully, a few players signing an autograph or two. Due to huge attendance last year, tickets are required for entry. Also, mark your calendar, the Patriots are coming August 5 to 6 to practice against the Redskins.
Redskins Fit Fest
August 2 & 3
The first Washington Redskins Fit Fest will feature players and coach appearances, free health tests and screenings, family friendly sports and fitness activities and more at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Organizers are projecting 10,000 to attend. Fit Fest will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free.
