Halloween Fun Around Richmond, VA

If you live in an apartment in Glen Allen, VA then you should know that there are a bunch of Halloween themed festivals headed our way.

From the Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival to tons of Pumpkin’ Chunkin’ events, check out these fun Halloween themed festivals for the whole family.

Pumpkin Chunk-a-thon Saturday, Oct. 25

Ashwood Gardens will be hosting their 9th Annual Pumpkin Chunk-a-thon to benefit Hanover Arc. Come watch a wooden trebuchet hurl pumpkins at a castle. There will be games, hayrides, face painting, food, raffles, and a moon bounce and more. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Free.

Innsbrook's Great Pumpkin Palooza Saturday, Oct. 25

Innsbrook’s Great Pumpkin Palooza delivers festival staples like pony rides, petting zoos, and bouncy houses with fun live entertainment. Plus they will have pumpkin chunkin’, costume contests and a straw bale maze. Grab a pumpkin from the patch to be painted and decorated, bowled down the field, or launched into the lake with Punkin’ Dunkin. Bring your pumpkins down to the trebuchet and let it rip to see how far you can launch them. They’ll also have an assortment of food from BBQ and kettle corn to gyros and souvlaki as well as adult brews. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free entry.

Richmond Zombie Walk Saturday, Oct. 25

The undead will walk the streets of Carytown AGAIN – for the 10th year in a row. You can dress up and join the zombie walk or just show up and watch the gore. Pre-walk meet up/staging area location at 1p.m. will be held at a new location –  Humphrey Calder Community Center Park (414 N Thompson St.) and the actual walk will begin on the sidewalk in front of Kroger (3507 W Cary St.) in Carytown  immediately after at about 2:30p.m. Check out our photos from last year.

Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival Saturday, Oct. 25

Pumpkins, beer and pumpkin-flavored dishes flood the Boulevard for the Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival. Expect pumpkin flavored dishes from Buz and Ned’s, Fat Dragon, Iron Horse, Alamo and more. New this year, an expanded kids’ section and a kids’ movie night at the Redskins Training Center. Pumpkin Festival will feature dishes from Richmond restaurants and beer from Scott’s Addition breweries like Ardent, Hardywood, Isley and more. Boulevard between W. Leigh and Marshall.  Free. VIP section $30 in advance, $35 at the gate. Noon to 6 p.m.

Spooktacular Halloween Festival at Westchester Commons Saturday, Oct. 25

Head to Midlothian’s Westchester Commons for a family-friendly Halloween festival with trick or treating, pumpkin painting, wagon rides, costume contests and more. 1 to 4 p.m. Free. Rain or shine.

Day of the Dead Thursday, Oct. 30

The 17th Street Farmers’ Market celebrates the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead with traditional Mexican dishes like tamales, empanadas and tacos along with live performances from traditional Aztec musicians and dancers. The event is free to attend. Food and beverage are available for purchase. 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Halloween Parade in Oregon Hill Friday, Oct. 31

It’s the 9th Annual Halloween Parade in Oregon Hill – on a Friday night! Giant puppets, costumes, live music, The PLF Pyroship "FLORA BURN" and so much more. This year’s theme is "A Funeral March for Grace Street and other Graces" and will address big box stores coming to Grace Street and preserving the independent identity of the street. Meet up at 7 p.m. at Monroe Park and follow the parade through Oregon Hill. Or just show up and watch the parade make its way through the streets of Oregon Hill.
