It’s about to get hot in Richmond with lots of fabulous summer festivals! If you live in an apartment in Glen Allen, VA, here is a list of the fun festivals that take place in June.

Shakespeare Festival: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Now -August 3

The new season of the Richmond Shakespeare Festival at Agecroft Hall starts June 12.A Midsummer Night's Dream runs June 12 - July 6 at 8 p.m. And Richard III runs July 12 - August 3 at 8 p.m.

Friday, June 20 & Saturday, June 21

Juneteenth, A Freedom Celebration observes Juneteenth National Freedom Day. Elegba Folklore Society programs a combination of history with a contemporary family gathering featuring performances, speakers, The Freedom Market and children’s activities. A symposium and the Annual Torch Lit Night Walk on the Trail of Enslaved Africans are also featured. Uncorked & Tapped Wine & Beer Festival
Saturday, June 21's popular wine and beer festival returns this year – with a twist and a new location! Five Virginia wineries and 5 Virginia breweries will each be paired with 10 of Richmond’s most loved restaurants and food trucks at Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center. Come out and sample the pairings and vote to help us crown the 2014 Uncorked & Tapped Champion Pairing. Plus music from the Slack Family Bluegrass Band. Ticket includes samples of wine and beer and food pairings and a commemorative glass. $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Get your tickets here.

RVA Streets Alive
Saturday, June 21

RVA Streets Alive returns for a second year with a new course. The event will close Brook Rd. from Abner Clay Park to Broad St. and both northbound and southbound lanes of Broad St. from Adams St. to 6th St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow residents and visitors to use these streets to be active through running, walking, biking, and many other physical activities. Vendors will be on-site offering health and fitness information and interactive demonstrations. Last year, more than 15,000 people attended.

Taste of India
Saturday, June 21 & Sunday, June 22

This festival provides the community in the Richmond region with a glimpse of Indian culture, a taste of diverse Indian cuisine, and an opportunity to experience Indian handicraft, art, music and various cultural dances. Enjoy the specific regional foods from various regions of India, including chicken curry, lamb curry, kabab, varieties of bread, the South Indian pancake, the "Dosa” and from North India, “Samosa." Some of the available beverages will include "Lassi," the traditional Indian "Chai" tea from Darjeeling or Assam, and varieties of Indian beer, and many Indian desserts and ice cream. Shop for jewelry, saris, Bollywood designer clothing, music CDs, books, paintings and many other items. Throughout the day, folk dances and presentations from various regions of India will be held, and visitors are invited to join the dance and fashion shows.

Veggie Fest
Saturday, June 21

Awesome vegetarian food, live music, speakers, an Iron Chef competition (vegetarian style), Jonathan Austin and more fun in Bryan Park.  Noon to 6 p.m. Free.

Arts & Culture Xpo
Saturday, June 28

The Arts & Culture Xpo is an annual event presented by CultureWorks spotlighting the Richmond region’s non-profit arts and culture organizations. It is a gathering for anyone who values arts and culture in our community. The day features a variety of stage performances including musical, visual art, theatrical, historical, dance and more; hands-on learning activities, opportunities to interact with an array of local arts and culture organizations and the opportunity to take advantage of Xpo-only discounts on memberships, classes, tickets, subscriptions, performances, education programs and more. Free. Greater Richmond Convention Center. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
