Genworth Financial 30th Annual Celebrate Freedom Independence Day Concert
Head to Genworth Financial on Broad Street for their 30th annual Celebrate Freedom concert followed by fireworks. Celebrate Freedom will feature children’s activities and a concert by the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band. This free event starts at 6:30 pm, with the concert beginning at 7:30 pm. Fireworks start at approximately 8:45 pm. Parking is free. Food vendors on site.
RVA Fireworks on the James
RVA Fireworks on the James returns for the third year in a row with free fireworks over the James River. Head to Brown’s Island for free performances from SPARC (School of Performing Arts in the Richmond Community), the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Richmond Ballet's "Minds in Motion." Food fendors will be on Brown's Island and the public is invited to bring a picnic (alcohol and pets not permitted) and a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the fireworks by Grucci. The fireworks are designed for 360-degree views. In addition to Brown's Island, excellent viewing sites will be available in surrounding areas such as Oregon Hill, Manchester, and Chimborazo Park. Entertainment begins at 7:30 p.m., fireworks expected at approximately 9:15 p.m. Rain date of July 5.
Chesterfield's Fourth of July Celebration
Celebrate Independence Day with a spectacular fireworks display in Chesterfield. The event, held at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds (across from L.C. Bird High School), includes an activity area for children and special entertainment. No alcohol, glass bottles, pets or personal fireworks, please. Blankets or lawn chairs are recommended. Limited parking; roads leading to fairgrounds will be closed at 9 p.m. or when parking lots are full. Gates open at 5 p.m. Fireworks start at dark. Free.
Colonial Downs: Racing to the Stars ‘n Stripes
The Fourth of July is always a big day at Colonial Downs with horse racing, fireworks, live patriotic music from York River Concert Band, a family themed "After Party" with magician Jonathan Austin, Proverbial in concert, free ice cream & more. 5 p.m. $5.
Colonial Heights Fireworks
Colonial Heights throws its own fireworks display off Charles Dimmock Parkway. Best viewing spots will be off Interstate 95, Exit 53 or 54 in the Southgate Square/Wal-Mart Area. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. Bring chairs and blankets. Free. 9:15 p.m. Rain date July 5.
Dogwood Dell Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks
Independence Day Celebration with live music, cannons and fireworks. Featuring jazz from Simply Kevin B, a Carillon bell concert and music from Richmond Concert Band. Program starts at 5:45 p.m. Fireworks at dark. At Dogwood Dell in Byrd Park.
Flying Squirrels Fireworks at Diamond
July 4-Saturday, July 6
Three nights of fireworks at the Diamond! Make sure to get your tickets first, these games often sell out, especially on the Fourth. $7 and up. Thursday at 6:35 p.m., Friday 7:05 p.m., Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Fireworks after the game.
Goochland Fourth of July Fireworks
Bring the whole family to the Goochland Sports Complex for a night of fireworks and family fun. Bring a picnic, park and watch the fireworks. Free. Fireworks expected after 9 p.m.
IllumiNights at Busch Gardens
Starting nightly July 1
Busch Gardens celebrates summer with IllumiNights, a nightly extravaganza featuring live performances, music and special effects that culminates in a park-wide firework spectacular. Beginning July 1 through Aug. 11 each country will celebrate IllumiNights in its own way with multiple performances throughout the evening. Performances begin nightly at 5:30 p.m. and culminate with the park’s Tour de Force: Fireworks Finale at 9:30 p.m. The show blends an array of color choreographed to an original score that can be viewed throughout the park. There are also several Fourth of July packages available like the 4th of July Picnic with an all-you-care-to-eat buffet in the Black Forest; a Rhine River cruise where you can watch the Fireworks Spectacular on the Rhine; and a Dessert & Fireworks Buffet in France.
Nights of Fire at Kings Dominion
Every night at Kings Dominion is Fourth of July with Nights of Fire. Fireworks every night at 9:45 p.m. Best viewed in the Grove, near the Drop Tower. Plus Snoopy’s Starlit Spectacular with more than one million LED lights themed to PEANUTS music. Shows begin every 10 minutes, 8:40 p.m. from 10:30 p.m.
