Tacky lights and tacky bikes. If you live in an apartment in Glen Allen, VA then you can exercise and bike with friends this Wednesday while you take in the holiday spirit. Sounds like a good combination.
Cyclists with Richmond Area Bicycling Association are scheduled to bike their annual Christmas Ride and Tacky Light Tour Wednesday, Dec. 17, a casual 15-mile bike ride to see plenty of the city's tackiest decorations. This ride has been taking place for about eight years.
This ride usually brings out at least 40 riders with plenty of cyclists in seasonal costumes with tacky lights on their bikes, to go along with the customary reflectors, blinking lights and bright clothing. Helmets are required for participants.
The ride begins at the shops at Libbie and Grove avenues and heads east on Grove Avenue through the Museum District, The Fan, Byrd Park, Monroe Ward and downtown -- stopping at the Jefferson Hotel, James Center and Capitol Square before heading back through The Fan and Monument Avenue.
The ride begins at 6:30 p.m. from the parking lot behind the Westhampton Theater. There is a post-ride gathering planned at Palani Drive on Libbie Avenue.
